Everyone loves the idea of having a wonderful green place to relax and enjoy the perfection of natural things. However, if the place is not lit to perfection, it can really spoil the atmosphere. Some people like the idea of having a lot of foliage color there and this looks wonderful if the plants change with all the seasons. Others, of course, like a riot of color from flowers which usually have different months to bloom. Try balancing the planting so that something interesting is going on all year round or even in each season so that interest is carried through.

Once all the planting has been planned out, the lamps which are needed can be factored in so that the place will look great no matter what the season is.
